This one-day course introduces chemical safety in the workplace for water and wastewater operators.

Topics include:

• Hazardous materials management
• Health and Safety
• WHMIS 2015 (including GHS inclusion and new symbols, Dec 2018)
• New Classification Standards, supplier labels
• Appropriate first response and First Aid procedures

Enabling Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this one day course the participant will:
• Recognize the hazards associated with chemicals used in the water and wastewater fields
• Have a basic understanding of the safe handling of those chemicals and the use of personal protective equipment
• Understand the requirements of provincial and federal legislation regarding the use of chemicals in the workplace
